True Story of a situation that could have been avoided

Attention Home Owners. You need a Completed Safety Training Implementation. You Cannot Take Shortcuts with Safety

A Husband and Wife ( Mr & Mrs Smith) were working on the roof of their two and a half story home located in a rural community in Newfoundland. While putting shingles near the Peak & Gable Mrs Smith slipped off the roof.  Luckily both her and her husband were wearing Fall Arrest Harness with shock absorbing lanyards attached to a proper anchorage.

In a Panic Mr Smith got off the roof and told his wife he would be right back. He jumped on his 4 wheeler and went 2 kms to the center of the community to get the man who owned a bucket truck to follow him back.  Together they rescued Mrs. Smith as she was hanging above the ground in her harness. This process took approx. 20 mins. and due to a condition called suspension trauma Mrs. Smith was now unconscious and had to be taken to the hospital which is 30 mins. away. She did survive but if their set up had a rescue plan in place this would not have happened.  (You have a 15 minute window to facilitate a rescue and get someone to the hospital)
